Second draft of lesson plans

This is my second draft. I will be now sending it off to my teacher. She will have to make sure it is suitable for the children to do. Once I have made my prototype it could alter what I will be doing with the children.


Overview of Activities Day-by-Day
1st Workshop- Introduction, Fins, Elastic prep
2nd Workshop-Headdress Base and mask decoration, T-shirt Wrapping, Headdress decoration prep
3rd Workshop- Tie dye reveal, Headdress card decoration, Sewing on Bells
4th Workshop- Finish everything off, attach everything together


These are the lesson plans for the workshops that I shall be running in the school. 
They include materials list's, activities, What I would like to achieve and what I need to do to prepare and before and after each workshop.

Supplied by school: Paintbrushes-for paint and glue, PVA glue, glitter, staples, stapler, a4 white paper (couple of sheets for elastic labels) scissors, Biro pens. Pencils, Hair dryers. Name labels
By Moving Tides/me: Fabric Paint, scraps from scrap store (foam, fabric scraps), Lining fabric, Purple elastic, Templates, Stapler and staples, masking tape. Hair dryers. Pics of sea creature and names
Objective:
Learning to paint between the lines on fabric, learn to accurately  follow instructions.
Learn about the whole costume and Moving Tides event
Introduction:

Morning
Start at 9.30am
Intro who I am, and name labels
Game of match the name with the sea creature
Intro on the whole design and the techniques how it will be all be made and any questions (20 mins)
9.50am
Explanation of what we will be doing with the day and in-depth example of what to do (15-20 mins)
Afternoon
1pm Quick talk about how we are finishing the Fins
Main:

Fins-
10.10am- 12 (Hopefully!)
Paint Orange to burnt yellow on both fins and painting the fins before Lunch. Finish painting other side if it needs it. - Hair Dryers to dry paint. 
Start cutting out the shapes to go onto the fins
1-3pm
After Lunch- Finish cutting out the other shapes from a template and gluing them on.
Plat the extra pieces of fabric to staple onto the bottom of the fins

All Day- As long as it takes
A parent to go round with the elastic around the calf and wrist and cut and staple for every child to size and label with Childs name.
Outcome:

27 Primary school finished Fins = 54 separate fins
3 Secondary school Fins- 6 Fins
Calf and wrist elastic ready to sew
Additional notes, inc suggestions for next lesson and follow up:
Collect t-shirts to Dye orange before next session. Make sure these are labeled.
Bring prototype for both Primary and Secondary fins
To do for next time- Finish off the secondary fins (That I used as an example, and make one more set of fins to make up the 6.)
Sew elastic
Draw Lines on Fins
Make bubble headdresses for secondary kids x 6

Supplied by school: elastic bands (15-20 per child) , t-shirts for primary, staples, stapler, scissors, sellotape, PVA, biros,
Supplied by moving tides/me: t-shirts for secondary, fiber glass tape, plasterzote, net, elastic- thin orange, staples, stapler, heat gun, paint, fabric paint, skewers
Objective:
Learn about textile processes to make patterns with dye.
Learn about the importance to keeping to a template.
Make decisions in design choices
Introduction:

9.30am
Name labels
Show the children how to adjust the plasterzote.  
Show what will happen with heat gun 
10.45am
Show the children how to decorate the masks with paint. Bring two different templates for them to choose their favourite
1pm
Explain what to do with the t-shirts and do an example for the children (15 mins)
2pm
Show children template and plat technique (10 mins)
Main:

9.45am-10.45am
Make Main adjust shape of the headdress and add thin elastic.
10-11 Get a parent to heat gun each of the masks so they are rounded and nose fits
11am-11.30am decorate the front of the mask with paint.
11.30-12pm Everyone help tidy up all messy paint
12pm-1pm lunch
1.15pm-2pm
Put the elastic bands around the t-shirts, making sure they all keep to the same pattern (1 hour)
2-3pm
Attach cable ties to plasterzote squares 
Foam circles templates and cut out in black x 20 per child
Outcome:
33 t-shirts ready to dye.
33 Headdresses base finished. Mask part painted
Made a start with decorative parts to headdress
Additional notes, inc suggestions for next lesson and follow up:
Prepare 1 secondary elastic band t-shirts to dye before extra
Sew rest of the elastic for bells
Create 1 more secondary headdress base and finish demonstration base and masks
Dye all t-shirts

Supplied by School: Large Needles, A0 white Cardboard, A4 Coloured Card, PVA glue, scissors, glitter, any orange/purple/green paint, glue gun with glue sticks
Supplied by moving tides: Bells, Purple elastic, thick strong thread, scraps from scrap store?, Paint
Objective:

Learning to make design choice decisions. Being creative
Work from a template
Learning basic sewing
Introduction:

9.30
The Big Reveal- of the tie dye.
9.45
Show what we will do today. Paint big A0 Card
Show how to use the templates and show what designs need to go on the card
1pm Show the children how to sew the bells onto the elastic
Main:

9.30

10am-11.45am
Paint Card
cut out Green Circles
Decorate card shapes with painted card/glitter use templates
Also finish last SESSIONS foam circles and plated net/scraps
11.45-12 clean up

1pm-3pm
Sew the Bells onto the elastic
Outcome:
Headdress/Mask combination cardboard shapes
33 finished Morris dancer style elastic with bells
Everything finished fins and Morris dance bells

Laminate all the children’s cardboard shapes and cut  out.
Add gems to t-shirts

Objective:

Putting the headdresses together
Making the costumes look finished and work as a group.
Introduction:

9.30am
Start attaching it all together demonstration
Show the children how to add anything extra to laminate and foam pieces from scrap store
2.45pm discussion about carnival and what we have learnt
Main:

9.45am
add anything extra to laminate and foam pieces from scrap store. Add the circles to the cable ties
10-12
Glue it all together add small cable ties
1pm-2pm any extra finish’s
2pm Clear and pack everything away
2pm-3pm everyone gets these t-shirt on and adult go round attaching fins and elastic wrists and t-shirts together using cable ties
Outcome:

Finish all the costumes.

Sort everything out so it’s ready  and safe for 12 July
