Yesterday we showed the prototypes to Adele and the rest of the Moving Tides Student group (26/04/2012), and today we tried them outside. From seeing my prototype on someone else, seeing it react in the wind and the process of making my prototype,
I have learnt a few things...
I have learnt a few things...
- The gems on the t-shirt will have to be ironed onto the front of the t-shirt- the back is not seen as much, not too many on the arms and not too low down as the drums will be covering them.
- The Plasterzote was going to be given to the children to cut out using a template, but, because they have to be fitted so tightly on the Plasterzote sheets I think it would be easier and less mistake making if I just did it myself and took it in.
- There will have to be something 'weighty' on the bottom of the fins as the wind blows them about which could be a little irritating- maybe plating the net and orange fabric scraps together could be stapled on the bottom?
- The marker pen is great on the lining fabric for the fins- no bleeding or smudging so I can go ahead and draw on all the fins once they have been painted and decorated.
- The painting on the front of the mask part of the headdress will have to have strong outlines otherwise it is lost in the distance.
- The bells really liven up the whole costume, and I think the children will Love them!
- The more circles on the ends of the headdress spikes the better.
- Adding dark green circles into the laminate headdress sheets has a better variation in colour to just the bright green and purple.
- Need to laminate glitter into the headdress sheets for the children's costumes.
- Maybe add glitter on the mask too- but I don't want it to go in their eyes, so I need to 'give it a go' on the prototype.
- Try and make the fins as bright as possible- as I didn't think the prototype was quite bright enough. But one of my paints were missing so the actual colour will be a little different when it arrives Wednesday + hopefully there will be a higher paint to water ratio on the real one's- I just didn't want to waste too much paint.
